Incidentally, the XP SP2 firewall is quite smart and will not start if it finds another personal firewall programming running. Has anyone come across something like this before? I just can't see how 2 computers both stop working at the same time. I would blame the router but pcmcia wireless card works fine!

Has anyone else gone this route? I would like to do it mainly because I'm used to troubleshooting and doing "repair installs" and having system file checker I had to go through several levels of supervisors to get a tentative "maybe" on the machine working with a Windows that was not THEIR proprietary version.

HP pavilion dv1000 series notebook XP reinstall problem

I did also have a USR 14.4 modem (Plug n Play), but I could not figure out what the fourth device was that it was talking about. Anyway, the system worked, so I installed Win95 from cdrom. Then I can possibly do a Win95 upgrade and make it work. Are there any better ideas??? Has anyone else had these problems?
